Wrongful Death and Survival Action Due to Failure to Diagnose and Treat Stroke

Lawsuit Against Northwestern Memorial Hospital | May 25, 2023

On May 25, 2023, WVFK&N attorneys John LaMantia and Soobin Lee filed a wrongful death claim on behalf of the family of a woman who died as a result of a preventable stroke.
The complaint alleges that on July 18, 2022, the patient presented to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for an Aortic Repair by surgeons with Northwestern Medical Group. The patient did not wake up after the surgery indicating a high likelihood she suffered a stroke. Postoperatively, the patient was managed by the surgical team and the surgical intensive care unit team. Due to the surgical team and the surgical intensive care unit team’s failure to order a STAT CT scan of her brain on July 18, 2022, and their failure to diagnose and treat her stroke, the patient suffered a stroke, cerebral infarction, and death.

The action is pending in Cook County, Illinois.
